3D Flow Measurement System

3-Dimensional Console (MC-3D52)

The Apex Instruments 3-D Console is used in conjunction with the 3-D Pitot to determine velocity pressure and the yaw and pitch angles of the flow velocity vector in a stack or duct according to the new US EPA Method 2F (the determination of stack gas velocity and volumetric flow rate with three-dimensional probes). The MC-3D52 console features differential pressure transducers that are exceptionally stable and reliable. The transducers are NIST certified to ±0.5% accuracy. The pressure transducers can withstand extreme overpressure for the most demanding stack testing conditions. A convenient purge pump, quick connects, temperature display and all voltage outputs are available for easy connection to your data acquisition system.

3-D Pitot (3DPT4)

3-D Pitot Calibration (PT-CAL-3D)

All 3-D pitot tubes must be calibrated before use. Recalibration is also required either within 12 months of its first field use after its most recent calibration or after 10 field tests, whichever occurs later. In addition, whenever there is visible damage to the 3-D head, the pitot shall be recalibrated before it is used again.

The Apex Instruments 3-D Pitot is capable of measuring yaw and pitch of nonuniform flows. The yaw angle is determined directly by rotating the pitot to null the pressure across a pair of symentrically placed ports on the pitot head. The yaw angle is measured with a remote inclinometer attached to the probe extension and digitally displayed on the console. The pitch angle is calculated using probe specific calibration curves. The average gas volumetric flow rate in the stack or duct is then determined from the average axial velocity.
