The
objective of the Acid Rain Program (Part 75) is to ensure accurate
accounting of pollutant emissions from affected utility boilers and
turbines using Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS). These
monitors are required to meet strict performance standards to
demonstrate their measurement accuracy. One measure of the accuracy of
a CEMS is the Relative Accuracy Test Audit, or RATA. The RATA requires
three runs with three traverse points per run. Designed to meet the
requirements of US EPA Guideline Document 031 for Multi-Point Probes,
the Apex Instruments PS2 RATA Sampler (RS-PS2-SYS)
enables simultaneous, continuous sampling of the three traverse points
without having to move the probe.

| The RATA Console (RS-CM-20)
is used to monitor the differential pressure across each orifice of the
RATA manifold to ensure equal flowrates. This features a single
Magnehelic® pressure gauge with switch activated solenoids to
monitor the three differential pressures. Temperature controllers for
the RATA probe and oven are included. Includes vacuum gauge to monitor
system pressure. |

| The Heated Filter
Tri-Probe (RSO-50-18) is compact and versatile allowing
efficient RATA sampling. This includes several unique products that are
specifically designed by Apex Instruments. These include: 6-port
combination manifold and filter unit for equal flowrate, mixing and
filtration of the sample; heated oven with slip-off cover for easy
service access; and multi-point probe with 2 inch oversheath that can
support the unit using optional packing glands. |

| Note:
The Heated Filter Tri-Probe is easily fitted with different probe
extensions to meet the specifications of the test site. Select traverse
points that ensure acquisition of representative samples over the stack
or duct cross-section. For particulate laden sources a sintered
pre-filter is recommended to prevent the plugging of the orifice. |
The RATA Sampler U-Cord (U-PS2-o)
connects the Heated Filter Tri-Probe to the Rata Console for remote
monitoring of sampling conditions.

Filter Ovens
|
| The Apex Instruments POF-100
is our latest combination of a Probe/Oven/Filter Unit. The POF-100
includes a combination Probe/Oven (SBP-6/32-18), a Stainless
Steel Sintered Pre-Filter (SSF-6610-P), a Filter
Holder (SFA-2564-4N2) and a Cable Entry Seal
(CES-S4S). The Probe/Oven features an 18 inch long heated
Probe with 2 inch diameter sheath capable of supporting the unit. The
probe uses an easily replaceable 3/8 inch stainless steel liner. The
oven features lightweight aluminum construction, a rugged 400 watt
strip heater, 1/2 inch Kaowool® insulation, aluminum lined
interior and stainless steel hardware. The cover easily slides off for
easy connection and service. The probe and oven temperatures are
regulated by externally accessible commercial grade infinite heat
switches. Type K thermocouple jacks can be used for monitoring probe
and oven temperature. A dual channel digital thermometer is
recommended. The stainless steel sintered pre-filter with a 3/8 inch
tube union features over 18 square inches of 10 micron filtering
surface. |
Options available for the POF-100 are Flange Adapter, Packing Glands
and Temperature Displays. Please call and inquire. |

Cable Entry Seal (CES-S4S)
The Cable Entry Seal securely attaches to our standard
HSRL Sample Lines with an adhesive lined heat-shrink tubing. The seal
serves as an excellent strain relief and seals out cool air.
Alternative strain relief are available. Call for details.
